Christopher Kane is the king of Resort collections, and I'm not just saying that because he's cute. As a London designer he's not afraid to embrace print and his previous Resort collections have been hugely successful because of this. From stars to crocodiles to mushroom clouds and rainbows Kane's simple prints have a striking effect and have spawned many trends. This season it is the humble brush stroke that adorns his summer basics. This collection is a lot more sophisticated than the playfulness of previous seasons. Stiff collars and large t-shirt sleeves give what is essentially casual wear a designer twist. I especially like the print trousers in the second outfit above. The high street has influenced mens fashion in Britain so much in the past ten years, encouraging men to be more adventurous in their fashion choices. Although it is not unusual to see a daring print on a man in London, it is unusual to see a daring print from the waist down. The Chelsea boots in the first outfit are also a winner for me. I wear Uniqlo black jeans pretty much every day and the splash of red on the boots stands out dramatically against the black boots and skinny jeans. It always astounds me to find that I haven't written about so many of the designers whose collections I follow religiously. I've said my Hail Mary's and molested my rosary beads and I'll make sure this oversight does not occur again.
