A few days late but... the avant guard fashion house Maison Martin Margiela is teaming up with the global high street behemoth H&M.

Who in the fuck saw that one coming? It's a pretty daring move for the company. Versace for H&M was a huge success and thrust Versace back into the limelight but Margiela's brand identity is structured around it's unconventional approach to design and advertising. Mass production kind of flies in the face of everything the brand is known for. That being said Comme des Garçons and Viktor and Rolf have already collaborated with H&M and it hasn't damaged their image. In a statement given to the Guardian Margiela said that "the democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further". I'm still confused as to what I think about these collaborations. I see the appeal of well designed clothes at affordable prices. I'd personally love a wardrobe full of Margiela and a high street collaboration is the only way that is going to happen. I do get somewhat irritated whenever I hear who the next collaboration is going to be with though. I'll put it down to my snobbishness and the realization that the same drones who attribute any unusual fashion with Lady Gaga, will now be spouting their long time love affair with a brand that they learned about a couple of days ago in Grazia. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing the designs. I have two pieces of Margiela in my wardrobe and I'd love to be able to add more.
Not much information has been released about what the collection will consist of other than it will comprise of womenswear, menswear and accessories and it will launch on November the 15th. I may be a snob when it comes to fashion but you can bet your ass I'll be camping out on Oxford Street to snaffle myself the entire collection.

It's perfectly ok to be a fashion snob. If not, you would be running around wearing whatever and not caring and that is not cool. That sounded very snobbish. ha. If I had the money to, I'd be paying big bucks for fashion you can bet. Thank you for voting today! I really appreciate it.
Much love,
Sophia
